Tuesday, January 29th, 2008
The Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has decided to invite applications for the broadcast of a pay television service in high definition on digital terrestrial (DTT) multiplex R3.
This call is open to all pay television operators that are already broadcasting on DTT and who wish to substitute high definition broadcasting for standard definition in their existing broadcasts.
The provisional timetable for the tender process is as follows:
- March 11, 2008: deadline for submission of applications;
- April 2008: public review of candidates;
- May 2008: selection, negotiation of the agreement and authorization.
The Council hopes that the broadcasts will begin as soon as possible after the granting of the authorization.
