LONDON, UK — NDS Group (NASDAQ: NNDS), the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, and Quantum, the premier supplier of innovative mobile multimedia devices and software, today announced the integration of NDS’ VideoGuard Mobile™ content protection system for DVB-H with Quantum’s Pocket TV portable media player (PMP). The integrated system will be showcased on the NDS booth at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, February 11-14.

“The integration of VideoGuard Mobile with Quantum’s Pocket TV brings us significantly closer to the goal of providing high-quality broadcast TV to any device and viewable at any time,” said NDS Chief Marketing Officer Nigel Smith. “With the superior content protection and sophisticated business management features offered by VideoGuard Mobile, mobile TV operators will be able to offer a groundbreaking video experience to users of the Pocket TV.”

Quantum CEO Stefano Martini said: “We are delighted to have accomplished the integration of NDS’ VideoGuard Mobile content protection system into our flagship Pocket TV portable media player. This will provide our service provider customers with enhanced content protection capabilities in a compelling, easy-to-use device that delivers the ultimate mobile TV and video experience to consumers.”

The Pocket TV integrated with NDS’ VideoGuard Mobile content protection enables pay-TV broadcasters and mobile network operators to offer their subscribers personal and innovative video services, whether indoors or outdoors. The Pocket TV can play both encrypted broadcast video and downloaded video stored securely on a memory card. NDS market-leading content protection based on VideoGuard, now securing over 82.7 million digital TV devices worldwide, ensures that content rights are maintained in both cases.

The DVB-H signal carried by the integrated product originates in NDS’ unique Unified Headend™ (UHE) architecture, which provides a single point of business management for all video broadcasts, irrespective of the delivery networks or the rendering devices. The UHE convergence platform enables operators and broadcasters to centralize the administration of subscriptions, purchasing, transactions, promotions and a wide range of other business functions.

The integrated Quantum Pocket TV with NDS VideoGuard Mobile will be showcased February 11 to 14 at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, at the NDS stand at AV100 Avenue.
