NEC collaborates with GLOBO, Brazil’s largest TV network, for live 4K terrestrial broadcasting trial in Rio de Janeiro
TOKYO — NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701) announced today that it is collaborating with Brazil’s largest TV network broadcaster, GLOBO, on constructing a live 4K terrestrial broadcasting trial system by providing the world’s first real-time HEVC hardware-based encoder, the 4K/60p compliant VC-8150*. The trial system will be used for GLOBO’s live 4K terrestrial broadcasting demonstration– thereby providing viewers with the most advanced ultra-high definition experience.
Looking to the future, NEC will continue its efforts to develop new technologies for next generation broadcasting services, enabling customers to create new value and produce high definition digital video.
