Italy plans to move from DVB-MHP to HbbTV 2.0
Monday, August 4th, 2014
Italy’s Confindustria Radio Televisioni has released a position paper, stating the intention of Italian broadcasters to move from DVB-MHP to HbbTV 2.0 as their preferred digital TV middleware.
Italy’s soon to be released HD-Book 3.0 will retain MHP, but the plan is to endorse HbbTV 2.0 as the standard middleware in HD-Book 4.0. The release of this document is driven by the availability of the ‘UHD-1 Phase 2’ technical specification from DVB in order to be able to support Ultra HD services, and so is not likely to be available until late 2015 or early 2016.
