France - SIMAVELEC holds annual press conference

At a Syndicat des Industries de Matériels Audiovisuels Electroniques (SIMAVELEC) press conference held on February 4, 2008, its Chairman, Mr. Benedict Lelièvre, CEO of Philips Consumer Lifestyle, said that industrialists in the sector were confident for the year 2008 – the year of HD.

After stating that in 2007, 5.8 million TV sets were sold, and that probably in 2008 the psychological barrier of 6 million units would be exceeded, he added that sales were almost 4.2 billion €uros.

In 2008, the vast majority – in some cases all – of televisions will be flat-panel, digital, widescreen and HD-ready.
