Serbia begins digital TV switchover
Monday, September 1st, 2014
Serbia’s Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications has announced that the country’s transition period from analogue to digital television broadcasting has officially begun. Serbia currently has digital coverage, based on DVB-T2 transmission and MPEG-4 compression standards, for 90% of the population.
For the first six months both analogue and digital signals will be broadcast, with phased switch over to all-digital taking place from March to May 2015.
Financial support for set-top box and antenna installation will be provided to the more vulnerable members of the Serbian population.
