Verimatrix Chosen by Digicel to Provide Advanced Cardless Security for New Premium Content Offering
- VCAS for DVB Deployed to Provide Enhanced Revenue Security and Flexible Upgrade Path
SINGAPORE — CommunicAsia 2015 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that Digicel New Media Ventures, a leading global telecommunications provider, has deployed the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for DVB to protect its Digicel Play high definition digital entertainment service offering. Digicel selected VCAS for DVB for its proven capabilities and flexible upgrade path.
VCAS for DVB provides Digicel with a cost-effective cardless security solution that saves the operator from managing the logistics of smart cards. VCAS solutions address the complexity of revenue security in today’s multi-network world. From flexible, cost-effective cable and satellite conditional access to adaptive rate streaming and harmonized multi-DRM management, Verimatrix offers advanced security architectures and ecosystem partnerships that are building the new generation of video delivery systems.
“Verimatrix gives us the flexibility to seamlessly expand our service offering to multiple screens in the future, while also protecting our current content offering,” said Alan Constant, CTO, Digicel New Media Ventures. “We chose to deploy VCAS for DVB to protect our Digicel Play service because of the credibility and flexibility of the VCAS system, and its ability to seamlessly integrate with our preferred head end and set top box (STB) providers.”
Ericsson, Kaon Media and Magnaquest all played integral roles in the deployment as well. The service is delivered via a hybrid DVB-S/DVB-T2 network and accessible via the Kaon Media VM-9150 STB.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Digicel on this exciting deployment,” said Steve Oetegenn, President, Verimatrix. “Our proven cardless security solution will offer them a single security approach to cable/satellite broadcast and hybrid broadcast-IP video services, and allow them to future proof their managed network with OTT extensibility.”
Verimatrix will showcase its breadth of multi-network solutions at its booth (#1M2-07) during CommunicAsia 2015 to illustrate the many advantages and capabilities of its VCAS™ architecture.
