New DVB-T2/HEVC pilot begins in the Czech Republic

PRAGUE — České Radiokomunikace (ČRa) has announced the start of a new trial of DVB-T2 digital terrestrial television transmission using High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) compression. According to the company, three channels – ČT Sport HD, TV Nova and TV Prima – are being broadcast in the advanced format.
The pilot is using the Žižkov terrestrial TV transmitter in Prague on channel 50, and is due to finish on February 28, 2016.
