Vodafone will be presenting its innovative mobile and home TV service at CeBIT 2008

DÃœSSELDORF — Vodafone has again extended its range of MobileTV services for CeBIT 2008. The innovations extend from image quality improvements to numerous new features and interactive functions. It will also be showcasing new products, services and transmission options at the Hanover fair.

Vodafone MobileTV already has over 30 channels and a comprehensive range of programmes which are broadcasted around the clock. They include sports, music, news and entertainment highlights. At CeBIT 2008, Vodafone will be demonstrating the further improvements to the existing service, plus numerous new mobile and home TV products.

Mobile solutions

H.264: High Quality MobileTV

Vodafone customers can profit from the significantly enhanced quality of Mobile TV broadcasts thanks to High Quality MobileTV. A brand new compression technique (H.264) with QVGA resolution delivers best ever mobile TV quality at no additional cost to customers. High Quality MobileTV is automatically available for all devices which support H.264, HSDPA and Q-VGA.

Vodafone MobileTV Player

Vodafone has upgraded the MobileTV Player. All moving image services – that’s TV, video and user generated content – are made available to mobile phones via the jointly used player, irrespective of the technology involved.

It considerably simplifies Vodafone’s TV and video services. There will also be demos of new applications for the MobileTV Player at CeBIT.

Showcase DVB-T

Vodafone is implementing a technological pilot project at CeBIT to demonstrate DVB-T for mobile phones. It enables the reception of all “classic” DVB-T channels on mobile phones. Users in regions with DVB-T will love the excellent image quality.

Home solutions

Vodafone Interactive TV

The pilot project, Vodafone Interactive TV, makes Vodafone’s MobileTV services for mobile phones additionally available on the Vodafone live! internet portal. The new service was developed to facilitate convergence with MobileTV, Vodafone’s TV service for mobile phone users. Now, specific TV content will be available to both mobile phone users and home PC users. Visit the website at www.vodafonelive.de to check out the pilot service. You’ll find a selection of current MobileTV channels for viewing on the Vodafone live! portal there. Vodafone Interactive TV is a TV experience with lots of additional information, a comprehensive range of functions and all programmes on demand. This innovative service is free of charge to both Vodafone customers and non-Vodafone customers.

Video on Demand

The new Vodafone Video on Demand products can also be used by mobile phone or home PC users, and they’re being showcased at CeBIT 2008. The Video on Demand range includes feature films, TV series and local programmes. Vodafone is planning to bill the service on a pay per view basis, without any subscription charges. Users will be able to look at trailers of free advertising-financed content, and then order a video on a pay-per-view basis. Interactive features such as communities, ratings and chats make Vodafone Video on Demand even more attractive.
