MANILA, Philippines — SKY subscribers in the Philippines can now watch and stream their favorite TV shows and movies from cable TV or online anytime, anywhere and on any screen, using Sky on Demand – SKY Cable Corporation’s newest service – which is powered by the Accenture Video Solution.
SKY On Demand is an over-the-top (OTT) service that leverages the power of digital technology to allow subscribers to quickly and easily watch their favorite shows, including foreign and local live channels, as well as blockbuster movies. Similar to the usual home cable subscription, Sky on Demand lets subscribers watch shows on ABS-CBN, AXN, History Channel, Food Network, Warner TV, Disney Channel, Basketball TV and many other channels through their computers and mobile devices.
The service is based on the Accenture Video Solution – an open, micro-modular and scalable software platform that enables cable providers, broadcasters and operators to quickly deploy their digital video services for consumers over managed and unmanaged devices, with a highly engaging and personalized user experience.
“I’m proud that Accenture is at the forefront of the ground-breaking Sky on Demand service, thanks to our technology consulting capabilities and the Accenture Video Solution platform, which has made a great impact on the way Filipinos use and experience technology,” said Accenture country managing director Lito Tayag regarding the company’s continuing collaboration with ABS-CBN and its subsidiaries, ABS-CBN Convergence and SKY Cable Corporation.
Jerome Almirante, SKY Cable Corporation’s Digital and OTT head, said, “By leveraging the latest advancements in digital technology, Accenture’s broad technology consulting expertise and the Accenture Video Solution platform, Sky on Demand enables us to address our customers’ evolving and growing needs for mobile and on-demand video solutions.”
SKY on Demand is currently available to all SKYcable, SKYbroadband and SKYmobi subscribers. The mobile application can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play. Subscribers can also watch on their PCs or TV sets using a SKYcable digibox. Options are available for live streaming of local and foreign shows depending on the type of SKYcable or Skybroadband subscription plan.
