IFA 2016: Hisense Selects SERAPHIC for Smart TVs Based on VIDAA Platform
- Hisense has chosen SERAPHIC’s Sraf® HTML5 Browser to support the next generation VIDAA smart TV platform
Hisense, the largest TV manufacturer in China, has chosen SERAPHIC’s advanced Sraf® HTML5 Browser to support its next generation Web-based VIDAA smart TV platform. SERAPHIC is a renowned provider of digital TV browser and “TV + Internet” solutions.
The VIDAA platform, launched in 2014, was born out of an initiative to create a “lean-back” smart TV experience, enabling users to reach content from various sources in a simple way. As a significant step forward Hisense’s strategic target, the smart TV market, it has won applauses globally.
Hisense has made great achievements both in domestic and overseas market. Up until end June this year, the number of its active users of internet television has climbed to over 19m. It is the number one domestic TV manufacturer and also expands quickly in overseas market such as Europe and America. It purchased Sharp’s Mexican factory and TV business in America; meanwhile its Czech plant has been running smoothly. Hisense maintains position as the third largest TV manufacturer in the world.
To offer enhanced user experience, Hisense delivered its next generation VIDAA platform, designed and engineered by Canadian designing team Jamdeo, and supported by SERAPHIC’s latest Sraf HTML5 Browser.
Sraf HTML5 Browser, based on Blink engine and amongst few strongest HTML5 Browsers in the TV field, follows the latest W3C specifications including WebRTC, WebAudio, WebAnimation, WebComponent and etc. It supports Hisense’s internet APPs globally and enables TV viewers wonderful operation and visual experience. As the sole built-in web engine in almost all connected TV chipsets of MStar, Sraf HTML5 Browser is already integrated into Mstar’s DTV solution, which could greatly accelerate time to market for the new VIDAA platform.
Hisense also adopts SERAPHIC’s technical support for more product lineups such as smart TV portal, YouTube TV, etc., due to its impressive performance in reducing initial launch time and browser-to-watch time, full animation support and comparatively small memory required.
