izzi Telecom Selects ARRIS ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform and Global Services to Deliver HDTV Services in Mexico
- ARRIS ME-7000 delivers the highest density and most energy-efficient video compression for next-generation services
SUWANEE, Ga. — ARRIS International plc (NASDAQ: ARRS) announced today that izzi Telecom deployed the ARRIS ME-7000 Converged Compression Platform in its cable TV operation in Mexico. Through ARRIS’s platform, izzi will deliver new HDTV programming to its subscribers and increase bandwidth efficiency, making spectrum available for additional services.
The ME-7000 provides izzi with the industry’s most advanced hardware-accelerated video compression system. The platform delivers a high-quality performance that’s compatible with today’s broadcast services while enabling the provision of tomorrow’s IP and multi-screen services.
izzi will benefit from the lowest total cost of ownership available from a single compression platform, coupled with the ability to deliver more, higher-quality channels to more subscribers, across multiple devices. The ME-7000’s modular and scalable design also supports future upgrades to HEVC and Ultra HD services—including 4K and HDR—at densities and performance levels unachievable through software encoding solutions.
ARRIS Global Services configured and tested the system—achieving the highest video signal quality and efficiency by advising on multicast, IP, and MPEG delivery schemes, and ensuring service continuity through a redundant configuration.
“PayTV and broadband data usage is growing rapidly in Mexico, and izzi is focused on utlizing its spectrum efficiently to anticipate this demand,” said Israel Corona, Engineering and Development Director, izzi Telecom. “That begins by investing in network infrastructure that can deliver those experiences today while providing a scalable foundation for tomorrow’s services. We selected the ARRIS ME-7000 converged compression platform because of its unique combination of hardware-accelerated compression performance and unmatched density and power efficiency.”
“For global service providers like izzi, the ME-7000 significantly reduces operational expenditures, while providing the capacity to deliver high-quality experiences for subscribers well into the future,” said German Iaryczower, SVP of Sales, Caribbean and Latin America at ARRIS. “”Our ME-7000 platform is the most advanced video compression system for global providers making the shift to IP and preparing for next generation TV services.”
