CyberLink PowerDVD World’s First Software Player Certified for Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Playback

TAIPEI, Taiwan — CyberLink Corp.(5203.TW),today announced that its flagship media player, PowerDVD, achieved certification from the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) for the playback of Ultra HD Blu-ray Discs. PowerDVD is the world’s first and only software player to pass the BD-ROM 4.0 PC Application Software License process, continuing CyberLink’s long tradition of industry leadership in multimedia playback.
The Ultra HD Blu-ray format delivers unmatched 4K content, offering not only a significantly larger 3840×2160 resolution, but also a greatly expanded color range, provision of both high dynamic range and high-frame rate (up to 60fps) content, and support for the latest object-based immersive sound formats.

PowerDVD Availability
PowerDVD is available today from the CyberLink Online Store and from retail outlets worldwide. Versions of PowerDVD supporting Ultra HD Blu-ray will be available from early 2017.
