iWedia Integrates its Teatro-3.5 Software Solution on Top of INTEK’s Latest Android TV UHD STB

LAUSANNE, Switzerland — iWedia, a leading provider of software solutions for TV devices to service operators and Consumer Electronics manufacturers, today announced that it has integrated its Teatro-3.5 software solution on top of the latest Android TV Ultra-High Definition (UHD) Set-Top Box (STB) from INTEK Digital Inc., a leading Korean STB manufacturer.

The announcement was made at IBC 2017, which is being held in RAI Amsterdam from Friday, September 15th through to Tuesday, September 19th. Both INTEK (hall 5, stand C38) and iWedia (hall 5, stand B40) showcase the integrated solution at the exhibition.

UHD-S72F is the latest Android TV UHD hybrid STB designed by INTEK. It is based on Broadcom’s BCM72604 chipset with features a 7 000 DMIPS dual-core 64-bit CPU and a 1.2 Gpix/s 3D GPU. The STB is equipped with all necessary connectivity (HDMI / HDCP, DVB-S2 x 2, fast Ethernet, USB, eSATA, etc.) to support the advanced services pay TV operators wish to provide.

Teatro-3.5 is a complete software solution for STB operating under Android TV. It is made of pay TV multimedia players specialized for broadcast, multicast, and unicast delivery, implemented as input services of the Android TV Input Framework (TIF). Teatro-3.5 extends Android TV with pay TV functionalities made accessible to system apps through the ANDROID4TV set of additional APIs.

Part of Teatro-3.5, C-More Live is a live TV system app which is launched when the STB is switched on and which gathers all the features of a resident STB app: zapping banner, service list, grid EPG, PVR and Time Shift.

Running under Android TV Nougat (7.0), Teatro-3.5 is integrated with various Conditional Access Systems (CAS), and connected to various service delivery platforms (SDP) and content delivery networks (CDN).

“Teatro-3.5 allows pay TV service providers to smoothly mix their own services delivered OTT, over IPTV, and over broadcast with third parties Android TV apps and services,” says Sunghoon Kim, VP Sales at iWedia. “The INTEK UHD-S72F STB on which we have ported our solution has proven to be a very efficient platform to cover the hybrid use case”.

“Our INTEK UHD-S72F STB is a cost-effective platform for a pay TV operator who chooses to follow the Android TV track,” says Shine Kim, CEO at INTEK. “With iWedia’s Teatro-3.5 pre-integrated, this STB becomes the ideal vehicle to support the bouquet of services provided by both Android TV and the pay TV operator.”
