CALGARY — Shaw Communications Inc. today announced the integration of the YouTube and YouTube Kids apps into its intuitive BlueSky TV platform, marking the latest enhancement to the video experience. Users can now stream videos and keep up with livestreams from the comfort of their couches in a whole new way — revamping the TV and YouTube experience.
“The addition of YouTube to Shaw BlueSky TV allows Shaw customers to spend less time searching for their favourite videos and more time watching them,” said Chris Kucharski, President, Consumer, Shaw Communications. “Whether they’re entertaining friends and family, listening to a playlist or following a tutorial, our customers can have their content all in one easy-to-use platform — and it’s all just a voice command away.”
BlueSky TV subscribers can now enjoy YouTube’s entire library of content without needing to change inputs or remotes. Subscribers can also use Shaw BlueSky TV’s intuitive voice-powered remote to search for specific content that will direct them straight to YouTube. Looking for football highlights? Say, “YouTube, show me CFL highlights.” Looking for Jimmy Fallon Hashtag videos? Just say, “Show me Jimmy Fallon Hashtags on YouTube.” It’s that easy.
Families with children can also access the YouTube Kids app, which is a separate app providing a family-friendly viewing experience and simple navigation for young viewers. YouTube and YouTube Kids access can be restricted using BlueSky TV’s parental controls.
Paired with Shaw WideOpen Internet 150, which features unlimited data, Shaw BlueSky TV customers can surf YouTube freely without worrying about data overages. BlueSky TV and WideOpen Internet 150 are available together for as low as $65 per month for the first six months as part of a 2-year ValuePlan. YouTube and YouTube Kids are the latest streaming services to be integrated into the BlueSky TV experience, joining Netflix and CraveTV.
