Amino Technologies plc – Contract win

Amino Technologies plc (LSE AIM: AMO), the global provider of media and entertainment technology solutions to network operators, announces that it has been selected by US telecommunications provider Waverly Utilities (“Waverly”) to supply Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA)-enabled IPTV devices and Amino OS software that will allow the Iowa multiservice provider to boost efficiency and deliver an enhanced pay-TV video experience. This contract demonstrates progress on the transformation programme announced in February, focussing Amino on software and services and value-add hardware sales.

Waverly selected AminoOS powered Kamai 650M IPTV devices because they enable delivery of the required MoCA connectivity. They will be deployed to seamlessly deliver enhanced IPTV services across Waverly Utilities’ high-speed fiber-optic network. Amino will collaborate with its strategic middleware partner Minerva Networks to facilitate Waverly’s ongoing rollout of video services.

Donald McGarva, CEO of Amino, said: “We are pleased to demonstrate progress on our transformation programme which we launched alongside our full year results earlier this year. We believe that Waverly is representative of many operators seeking solutions that can leverage in-home coax cabling via agile devices. The pay-TV industry today requires devices with the agility to allow TV operators to adapt to growing consumer expectations and deliver modern TV experiences – such as enjoyment of 4K UHD content in the future. Agile devices not only empower operators to enhance the user experience but simplify deployment.”

Jeff Magsamen, Waverly Utilities’ CEO, explains: “We need MoCA to take advantage of the existing coax cable deployed in many homes to provide high bandwidth throughput – which is perfect for video. Not only does taking advantage of existing coax give us greater efficiency in deploying the boxes, but it gives our subscribers a better user experience when enjoying real-time TV events such as live sports.”

As an existing Amino customer, Waverly Utilities has deployed Amino OS Engage, Amino’s service assurance software, which enables operators to reduce operational costs by quickly resolving subscriber issues and decreasing truck rolls. Waverly Utilities will benefit from a range of cloud-based remote assistance and device management capabilities – fully integrated into their own monitoring tools – to ensure consumers are given high levels of support during and after the transformation process. The enhanced management ability, on top of traditional service management solutions help to differentiate Waverly’s pay-TV services from the myriad of emerging streaming services.
