BritBox chooses Deltatre as front-end and UX design partner

Deltatre – the global sports and entertainment media technology provider – has powered the successful launch of the new streaming service BritBox.
BritBox is an OTT service which offers viewers some of the most talked-about British dramas, comedies, films and documentaries from ITV, the BBC, Channel 5 and Channel 4 for £5.99 a month.
BritBox chose Deltatre as its front-end and design partner, utilising ‘AXIS’, the company’s targeted UX management platform, to power the front-end of its streaming service. AXIS helps non-technical editorial teams take control of all touchpoints in a video service users can see and interact with – including design, navigation, promotions and content, without touching any code.
Deltatre also designed and built BritBox’s suite of multi-platform applications across web, mobile and connected TVs with full feature parity across devices at launch in under eight months.
A particular focus during development was given to how content is surfaced to the end-user in order to maximize engagement and retention. This included the roll-out of an actors page, which illustrates the impressive talent roster that the service offers, as well as features which enable users to easily navigate and find new releases.
The project began in January 2019 and was launched in beta in October, which is the quickest time frame that Deltatre has ever brought to market a service on this scale. By using Deltatre’s AXIS platform and suite of reference apps BritBox was able to deploy the full-featured product in a fraction of the time and more cost-effectively than if it had taken a conventional approach.
The project marks another important milestone for Deltatre in working with leading broadcasters and is yet another step into the entertainment world following its acquisition of Massive Interactive last year.
Deltatre will continue to work alongside BritBox during the next period of the service’s evolution and growth, with plans to implement new fan-first features such as offline downloads in the near future.
Ron Downey, President | OTT Division at Deltatre, said: “BritBox is an example of how broadcasters can maximize the value of their rights and reach audiences in new and exciting ways. We were honored to be recognized as the right partner to deliver a targeted user experience platform and suite of leading user applications in a short timeframe. With positive initial reviews of the service, we’re now looking to our future relationship, helping BritBox provide users with an engaging and enjoyable viewing experience.”
Lee Marshall, BritBox said: “We’ve been impressed by the efficiency, scale and speed of Deltatre’s solution delivery, which has been instrumental in bringing BritBox to market. We’re excited to continue our partnership with Deltatre as the service grows and reaches a wider audience across the UK, and we’re positive that together we’ll be able to provide a unique and exciting offering to viewers.”
