Ocean Blue supports Freeview+ PVR software & HD standard
Thursday, July 10th, 2008BRISTOL, England — Ocean Blue Software, the digital TV software specialist, announced today full support for the Digital Terrestrial Group (DTG) hard disk based set top software standard and rebranding to Freeview+.
Freeview+ is the first software standard for Personal/Digital Video Recorders (PVR/DVR) and was designed by a DTG standards group, of which Ocean Blue Software is an active member.
According to the DTG web site and DFK research DVRs experienced strong growth in the year ending April 2008. Volume sales grew to 473 thousand units while value sales grew to £50.5 million. When compared to the year ending April 2007, these figures represented increases of 90.7% and 44.2%.
Ocean Blue will shortly be releasing its updated versions of its Sunrise DVB-T, Voyager MHEG-5 and Freeview+ software on STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) and NXP chipsets, with full support for High Definition (HD) broadcasts.
