AminoOS and Engage enable PCCW Media to offer TV Video Service merging Pay TV and Streaming

CAMBRIDGE, UK and HONG KONG — Amino, the global media and entertainment technology solutions provider, today announced that it is working with PCCW Media, a leading, fully integrated multimedia and entertainment company headquartered in Hong Kong, to upgrade the user experience of its pioneering Now TV video services.

Now TV is Hong Kong’s leading Pay TV operator with the territory’s largest subscriber base, the most SD and HD channels, and the largest VOD library.

The Pay TV and streaming worlds are converging to redefine the TV experience. PCCW Media will leverage the AminoOS-converged IPTV and OTT set-top box software stack to offer the modern TV features that deliver next-generation viewing experiences within the operator’s environment. Amino Engage, Amino’s SaaS service management solution, will simplify Now TV’s device and app management to deliver excellent customer service, experience, and insight into video consumption metrics for monetization. This will increase operational efficiency and help the operator provide high-touch customer support, boost customer loyalty and upselling.

Derek Choi, Head of Pay TV, PCCW Media Limited, said: “This project keeps Now TV at the cutting-edge through unifying the service management of Pay TV and streaming, and upgrading the user experience of our subscribers. As our long-standing technology partner and a leading expert in Pay TV infrastructure, Amino is the obvious partner for this exciting development.”

“We spend a lot of time talking to and surveying consumers and customers. Over the last two years, the strongest message was that everyone wants a combination of the rock-solid user experience of Pay TV and the user-friendly and wide choice of OTT streaming,” said Donald McGarva, Amino Group Chief Executive Officer.

“To meet these needs, we have developed the Amino Pay TV+ concept, and have gained solid deployment experience of delivering Pay TV+ through different platforms. We’re incredibly excited that we are now working with PCCW Media to provide consumers in one of the most competitive video markets with an exciting ‘best of both world’s’ TV and video service,” concluded McGarva.
