HANNOVER/SEOUL — Cable operator Tele Columbus is working with set-top box manufacturer Kaon Media on the joint development of an HDTV PVR. The new product is planned to be launched in Germany in the first quarter of 2009.
The aim of the project is to develop an HDTV PVR that can receive both DVB and IP-streamed content. The set-top box will have NDS Group’s VideoGuard conditional access integrated.
With around 3.7 million connected households Tele Columbus is the third largest cable provider in Germany and the biggest cable operator on network level 4.
