MECHELEN — Today Telenet (Brussels: TNET) Digital TV was successfully launched in the former Interkabel regions. This means that the interactive digital television platform is now available for customers from Maaseik to Ostend and from Ypres to Wuustwezel. Today the first customers were successfully connected up and can now use the most important interactive television applications with the best digital image and sound quality.

As of today interested customers in Interkabel regions can also receive Telenet Digital TV and enjoy the most important interactive applications of digital television, including requesting television programmes (via, for example, “Net Gemist”, “Ooit Gemist”, “IWatch”, “C-More”) or films, consult all walled garden applications and send and receive e-mails via the TV. Playing along with the red button or ordering various theme packages is not yet possible. These applications will also be launched in Interkabel regions at the beginning of 2009.

Interkabel analog service retained. Extra channels for INDI customers

Analog television viewers in Interkabel regions can now continue to enjoy the same analog television service they used to. Telenet is keeping the current basic package of analog channels and stations and – subject to changes in the cost of living – is not increasing the cost of the cable subscription.

INDI customers can also continue to rely on the same service. The digital basic package for these viewers and all INDI customers has now automatically been extended to include 6 extra television channels and 10 extra radio stations.

A Telenet Digibox or Digicorder is required for interactive applications, such as playalong or voting via the red button or requesting films and television programmes. At the beginning of 2009 Telenet will launch an attractive deal for INDI customers wanting a Telenet decoder at home.
