South Africa postpones Invitation To Apply for Mobile TV Broadcasting Services
Tuesday, February 24th, 2009
JOHANNESBURG – The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) hereby informs all the interested parties that it has decided to temporarily withdraw an Invitation to Apply (ITA) calling for entities that were licensed to provide Individual Electronic Communications Services, Broadcasting Services and Electronic Communications Network Services to apply for frequencies to provide mobile digital video broadcasting services. The closing date for the responses had been set for 27 February 2009.
The Authority has decided that it would be in the interest of the communications industry at large to first finalise the Digital Migration Policy and Frequency Band Plan before licensing any mobile digital video broadcasting services.
The Authority will in the future communicate any further developments on this matter.
