British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB, Sky) [LSE:BSY] today announced that its Sky+ Remote Record application is available from the Apple App Store. The free application enables iPhone users with a Sky+ or Sky+HD set-top box to set recordings for their favourite show wherever they are in the world.

Sky+ Remote Record on Apple iPhone Stephen van Rooyen, Sky’s Director of Product Management & Product Marketing, comments: “Whether you’re stuck at work, in the pub or gym, or have simply forgotten to record something, this free application is perfect for those situations when you hear about a TV show and want to record it there and then. Sky continues to innovate with products and services which give customers more choice and control over the TV they love.”

The easy to use application gives customers access to Sky’s seven-day Electronic Programme Guide (EPG), where they can browse listings by time, day or programme name, and then select programmes to record. Once a recording request has been sent to the customer’s set-top box, a message appears on screen confirming that the show will be ready and waiting for them when they get home.

The Sky+ Remote Record app is available for free from Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPod touch.

The new Sky+ application further expands the range of Remote Record options, helping ensure that Sky+ customers never miss their favourite shows again. Sky+ recordings can be set remotely either through the Sky+ Remote Record application or via a simple text message. Customers can also add recordings to their Sky+ planner via Sky’s interactive online EPG. The Online Sky Guide provides viewers with the most comprehensive TV listings service available anywhere online. Viewers can browse and search thousands of TV programmes from more than 600 channels up to 7 days in advance.

Remote Record also works on Sky’s recently launched online reminder service Never Miss, which continually scans TV listings and enables viewers to request email notifications when their favourite movies or TV series are about to be scheduled on TV months ahead of standard scheduling. A link to is sent to viewers which enables them to remote record and integrate requests into their Sky+ or Sky+HD planners.
