Government calls for unified DTT STB specification for Spain
Tuesday, April 28th, 2009Spain’s Ministerio de Industria has asked television operators and telecommunication manufacturers to create a unified DTT platform for pay TV. The aim of the initiative is to avoid viewers having to purchase multiple devices.
A working group, initiated by the ministry, with participants from television operators and electronics companies, is looking to reach an agreement with the “utmost urgency”, says Andres de Armas, director general of Impulsa-TDT.
The single DTT set-top box (STB) must be capable of receiving all available channels including pay TV and high definition.
