Videocon soft launches India DTH service
Tuesday, April 28th, 2009Videocon Industries will launch its ‘D2H+’ Direct-to-Home (DTH) satellite service in India on May 1st, after a soft launch yesterday in Macau in front of its 2,500 dealers.
The set-top box, to be made at Aurangabad (Maharashtra) by Videocon, is an MPEG-4 receiver with Irdeto conditional access and Idway-J middleware. ARION Technology of Korea has participated in the project as part of the consortium and has provided hardware and software expertise to Videocon. ARION is to receive royalties on Videocon’s set-top box sales in India.
Unlike its competitors, Videocon will also offer IDTVs capable of receiving the service.
