Claro Launches 3G Mobile TV Service in Dominican Republic

Ideas TV offers live and pre-recorded Mobile TV channels streamed over 3G

LONDON and DOMINICAN REPUBLIC — ROK Entertainment Group, the mobile technology, applications and services company and Claro, Dominican Republic, the largest Mobile Operator in Dominican Republic, have today announced the launch of Ideas TV, a streamed, live and pre-recorded mobile TV subscription service.

Powered by ROK’s award-winning over-the-air video-streaming technologies, Ideas TV will offer an initial package of 11 (eleven) local and international channels including Cadena de Noticias, ESPN, ESPN X, TV Azteca, Discovery Movil, MTV, Disney Channel, History Channel and National Geographic, Nickelodeon, Discover Kids and Playboy Lifestyle.

Initially the service will be available on the Blackberry Bold, Nokia N95, Nokia E71 and the Nokia 6120.

The deployment of Ideas TV in Dominican Republic follows the successful launch of ROK-powered Ideas TV with Claro’s parent group Operator, Telcel, in Mexico in September 2008.

Claro in the Dominican Republic is the mobile brand within the Compañía Dominicana de Teléfonos (Codetel), the biggest telecommunications company in the Dominican Republic and a part of América Móvil (Mexico:AMXL) telecom group.
