Videotron illico Digital TV adds record 52k subscribers in 3Q09

MONTRÉAL — Vidéotron (TSX: QBR.A, QBR.B) is pleased to report customer growth for the 17th consecutive quarter for all its services – Internet access, cable telephony, wireless telephone and cable television which recorded a record increase in the number of subscribers to its digital service during the third quarter of 2009..

Cable Television

In the quarter ending September 30, 2009, Videotron increased its customer base for cable television services by 27,100 to end the quarter with 1,759,700 subscribers. The popularity of the illico Digital TV service continued to grow, with a record-breaking increase of 52,100 subscribers during the quarter, bringing the total to 1,042,400 households and businesses. The proportion of Videotron cable television customers who were subscribed to the digital service rose to more than 59%, compared with 52% in the same period of 2008.
