Latens portfolio includes solutions for all cable architectures from one-way cable to hybrid cable networks

IBC2007, Amsterdam, The Netherlands — Latens, Europe’s leading provider of software security solutions for Pay-TV & IPTV, announces today that that it is presenting the widest range of software-based CA security solutions for Cable operators at IBC, uniquely including dynamically downloadable CA (DCAS) for broadband and broadcast (one-way) cable systems. Visitors to the Latens IBC stand (5.235) can see live on-stand demonstrations of the Latens CAS family of products.

Latens CA solutions provide the most advanced, pay-tv strength CA for all cable architectures, including:

  • DVB-C broadband cable systems using DOCSIS architectures
  • IPTV services over broadband cable networks using CMTS bypass architectures to address IPTV set tops via a cable modem
  • One-way digital cable – through Latens’ unique BCAS software-based CA system designed to protect digital systems without an always on return path
  • Hybrid networks combining cable architectures with DTT, IPTV etc.
  • Managing all of the above from a single CA headend to allow cable operators complete flexibility for new services and protection of existing network assets.

“The combination of the unique functionality and flexibility of the Latens CAS product family and the fact that we’re the only software CA vendor to offer support of IPTV and standard cable Pay-TV CA architectures means that we offer the cable industry the widest possible choice of downloadable CA solutions,” says Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens Systems. “Operators can choose to deploy a range of set top boxes to suit their business model and network architecture, from the cheapest ‘zapper’ cable boxes to the most sophisticated IP and DOCSIS based PVR devices”

Mathieson concluded: “Visitors to our IBC stand will be able to see how our CA architecture is protecting Multimedia Media Polska’s hybrid IPTV and cable network from one unified head-end and also see the IPTV and broadcast cable systems that other customers are deploying. These demos are further proof that we offer cable operators the widest choice of CA, whatever their architecture.”
