Housed in a tiny package, the cost-effective MicroTuner MT2066 single-chip broadband tuner enables multi-tuner architectures in China’s advanced cable equipment designs

BEIJING & PLANO, Texas — Microtune®, Inc. (NASDAQ: TUNE) today announced that Shanghai Digivision Ltd., a leading company in the Chinese digital television (DTV) industry, selected the Microtune MT2066 single-chip broadband tuner for use in its advanced high-definition cable set-top boxes for the Chinese market.

“Our local design, sales and support teams in China have worked with Digivision to streamline its design process and achieve industry-leading performance.”

Based on the Company’s MicroTuner™ platform, the MT2066 chip delivers exceptionally high performance while being priced competitively for high-volume set-top box production. In the Digivision design, the MT2066 low-power (3.3 V) broadband tuner is being used in a high-definition dual-tuner architecture that benefits from the MT2066 tuner’s miniature 36mm2 size. Supporting the DVB-C standard, the MT2066 enables a rapid universal design for set-top boxes in the challenging Chinese cable TV environment.

“The MT2066 has been specifically optimized for the performance and cost needs of the Chinese cable environment, and it is a great fit for the innovative solutions being developed at Digivision,” said James A. Fontaine, President and CEO of Microtune. “Our local design, sales and support teams in China have worked with Digivision to streamline its design process and achieve industry-leading performance.”

The MT2066 enables cable manufacturers to integrate the most advanced radio frequency (RF) IC components into their designs, enabling a reliable multimedia television experience, all while meeting the demands for smaller and more cost-effective electronics.
