By the end of September 2007 Boxer had 693,000 digital-TV subscribers, representing an increase of 39,000 hitherto during 2007 and an increase of 15,000 during the third quarter. On a September to September basis the number of customers has increased by 77,000 – representing 12.5% growth.

“The pace of growth in new subscriptions is slowly decreasing as Swedish households go digital. We’re thus working harder on new services such as the Boxer Twin Card and an expanded electronic programme guide – Boxer Navigator,” says Per Norman, Boxer’s CEO.

On 2 October the government presented the proposition regarding new regulations on terrestrially transmitted digital TV that was announced in a Council on Legislation submission in June. The proposal leaves it up to the programme companies to create a consumer-friendly regulatory framework by means of an agreement.

“The digital terrestrial network must contribute to the broadest possible freedom of speech and information. It is thus logical for transmission licences and the task of regulation to go to the programme companies. It is the programme companies who have the greatest interest in viewers gaining access to the entire range in the easiest possible way, whilst at the same time creating conditions for the development of new services on the terrestrial network,” says Per Norman.
