ADB to deliver award-winning Carbo™ user experience and advanced set-top device to Canal Digital subscribers

GENEVA, Switzerland — Advanced Digital Broadcast (SIX: ADBN), a leading supplier of technology to the global digital television industry, announced today that it will deliver its latest ADB-5720SX hybrid Digital Video Recorder, pre-integrated with its award-winning Carbo™ user interface to Canal Digital.

Using the ADB-5720SX platform, Canal Digital will create an enhanced consumer TV experience for its subscribers. Users will be able to quickly and easily access Canal Digital’s broad range of high definition channels and interactive applications via ADB’s Carbo interface.

Carbo, which is already live with a number of European pay TV operators, offers super-fast channel change, and clear, simple menus. Instead of navigating through the traditional multi-layer menus, users quickly reach their desired application with an intuitive carrousel of icons.

“Canal Digital is a leading operator in the Nordic countries, renowned for high quality services,” says François Pogodalla, Chief Executive Officer for ADB S.A. “The specification for this solution was very demanding as Canal Digital has high standards for the viewer experience it delivers, but that’s just the kind of challenge we thrive on.”

“We look forward to our cooperation with ADB and the launch of high quality DVRs that will strengthen our portfolio of set top boxes”, says Terje Storhaug, CTO of Telenor Broadcast Holding AS (Oslo:TEL).

From the outset, the ADB-5720SX platform and Carbo™ have been designed to make it easy and cost effective for operators to add new interactive services or internet applications, and meet their subscribers’ growing appetite for new content.
