ATSC Publishes Interim Report On 3DTV

WASHINGTON — The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) has announced the publication of an Interim Report on 3D Digital Television and issued a formal request for input from the industry.
The ATSC Planning Team 1 (PT-1), responsible for analyzing and reporting on the likely benefits and limitations of a standard for terrestrial broadcast delivery of 3D TV, has produced an interim report that provides an initial survey of both existing and in-development technology that could be used to broadcast 3D TV.
To ensure that the final version of this report is complete and provides an analysis of all available broadcast delivery options, the ATSC is hereby soliciting input on additional technology and formats for 3D broadcast that have not been described in the interim report, including technology that is under development.
