Cablemás setting standard for digitization of TV services in Mexico

CANITEC, Mexico City — Cablemás, Mexico’s 2nd largest cable operator is driving the standard for digital TV in Latin America’s largest market for pay-tv. In 2010, Cablemás entered an agreement with Conax, and Evolution Digital LLC, for Conax content security platform and Evolution set-top devices with Conax embedded security. Now Cablemás is expanding their digital service offering to include next generation IP video services using the Conax security platform and Evolution hybrid IP set-tops and DVRs.

Headquartered in Mexico City, Cablemás has continued to grow its subscriber base through its bouquet of value-added triple play services. Now Cablemás can also offer the advantages of a digital environment to households across the country.

Conax has deployed four redundant centralized Content Security head-ends to serve Cablemás’ 1 million plus subscriber base. The Conax System is highly scalable and offers Subscription, Pay-Per-View, Conax Pairing and On Demand products. Already over 260,000 high quality SD and HD Evolution Digital devices have been shipped and installed with an additional 320,000 on order.
