Connected TV sales growing fast in Europe
Sunday, July 17th, 2011According to BITKOM (Bundesverband Informationswirtschaft, Telekommunikation und neue Medien), quoting data from the European Information Technology Observatory (EITO), sales of connected TVs in Germany will reach 3.4 million units this year, up 60% from 2.2 million in 2010.
Also fast growing are the UK and France where in both cases the market is expected to almost double this year. UK sales in 2011 are expected to be around 2.1 million units and in France 1.6 million.
In 2011 over 10 million TVs with a built-in web access will be sold in the EU, rising to 13 million in 2012 with 4.3 million units being sold in Germany alone.
