Satellite TV subscribers pass the 1 million mark in Chile

Chile’s Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (Subtel) has released pay TV statistics to the end of March 2013. From the end of March 2012, satellite subscribers increased from 943,844 to 1,039,535 (up 10.1%) whereas wired (cable TV and IPTV) subscribers only grew from 1,162,383 to 1,205,918 (up 3.7%), giving a total for the country of 2.245 million, up 4.5% year-on-year.

DIRECTV was the fastest growing service adding 27% to its subscriber total over the preceding 12 months.
