OSLO, Norway, and MIANYANG, China — Opera Software has today announced that the full suite of Opera TV products has a new destination, landing in the latest line of Smart TVs from consumer electronics company Changhong.
Changhong, one of the largest manufacturers of televisions in China, will integrate the Opera Devices Software Development Kit (SDK) to power the complete package of Opera products. This gives Changhong viewers a passport to hundreds of engaging apps through the Opera TV Store, and lets them explore the web with the Opera TV browser.
With this new cooperation, Opera has now signed with four of the top TV manufacturers in China. Opera’s connected-TV solutions will deploy on Changhong’s C2000, C5000 and UHD B6000 series of Smart TVs, which are already shipping to Australia and the Middle East.
“A powerful connected TV deserves an equally powerful web experience, and today’s web-savvy viewers would accept nothing less,” says Aneesh Rajaram, Senior Vice-President for TV & Devices, Opera Software. “Opera provides the ultimate connected-TV web experience, and we look forward to working with Changhong to bring on board the complete offering of Opera TV products to their customers.”
“Opera’s products provide the best quality web content and services for Smart TVs, and we are eager to bring this solution to our viewers globally,” says Wenjun Yu, Overseas Marketing Director, Changhong. “It adds huge value to our connected-TV offering and enables our customers to unleash the power of their Changhong Smart TVs.”
Opera Devices SDK drives the web experience on tens of millions of devices for more than 50 customers, including Sony, Samsung, Philips, TCL, Sharp, Loewe, Boxee, Freesat+, Vestel and Altech.
