LOVEFiLM launches streaming application on Xbox One

LONDON — From today members of LOVEFiLM, an Amazon company, can access thousands of films and TV shows from the LOVEFiLM Instant streaming catalogue on Xbox One, Microsoft’s new generation all-in-one gaming and entertainment system.

Available now from the Xbox One App Marketplace, the LOVEFiLM Instant app features all of the service’s most popular features including 1080P high definition streaming, Dolby® Digital Plus (5.1) surround sound, the Watchlist – allowing members to organise the film and TV shows they want to watch at a later date – and Whispersync technology to make pause and resume viewing on another device easier than ever before.

The app will also support a variety of new Xbox One features. ‘Snap’ and ‘fill’ modes allow members to view content from a side panel on the screen while navigating other menus, games or apps in the main window. Achievements and Challenges are also supported with members able to earn badges by fulfilling actions such as adding titles to their WatchList or watching new releases.
The Xbox One’s Kinect motion sensor also enhances the viewing experience by allowing easier navigation around the LOVEFiLM Instant catalogue. Users can browse, select and move through content with the wave of a hand, while voice commands are also supported.
