On Demand Deutschland (ODD), the joint venture of SeaChange International (NASDAQ: SEAC) subsidiary On Demand Group (ODG) and Tele München Gruppe (TMG), has agreed a deal whereby ODD will supply the video on demand (VOD) content services to Telekom Austria’s AonTV VOD service.

The Aon TV VOD service already has several thousand subscribers – adding around 1,000 new customers per week – with a plan to grow rapidly over the next few years. The deal will utilise ODD’s relationships with major Hollywood and independent German and Austrian studio and TV content suppliers to provide the service with a wider choice of content and more recent titles to allow for more effective marketing of the service.

ODD already provides Kabel Deutschland’s, Select Kino PPV movie service, and Unity Media’s Kino auf Abruf PPV movie service in Germany, having established the joint venture between ODG and TMG in April 2007.

Rudolf Fischer, Deputy Chief Executive of Telekom Austria commented: “The deal with ODD will allow us to focus on rapidly growing the customer base of our Aon TV VOD service, whilst ODD will bring its television expertise to deliver the best on demand content service in the territory.”

Tony Kelly and Bernd Schlötterer, Managing Directors On Demand Deutschland commented: “We are very happy to be working with Telekom Austria on their Aon TV VOD service which we expect to quickly set the standard for VOD TV services in Austria. This deal with Telekom Austria meets our topline objective of expanding our business into new markets. It demonstrates our core competency of being able to bring compelling content services to market rapidly to give the operator maximum leverage over competition, and also utilizes our world leading skills for driving on demand penetration and usage.”
