3SS Delivers Smart TV Apps for A1 Bulgaria as first part of A1 Telekom Austria Group Multi-territory Rollout

STUTTGART, Germany — IBC 2021 Hall 5, meeting room H15 — 3 Screen Solutions (3SS), leading provider of software solutions for set-top boxes (STB) and multiscreen entertainment, today announces that it has delivered two new smart TV apps for A1 Bulgaria, part of the A1 Telekom Austria Group, a leading provider of digital services and communications solutions in Central and Eastern Europe.

The apps are now live and Bulgarian subscribers to Xplore TV can now enjoy enriched OTT viewing experiences on their Samsung Tizen and LG webOS connected TVs.

The A1 Bulgaria launch is the first market to go live in a five-territory project which A1 Telekom Austria Group awarded to 3SS following a competitive RFP. 3SS-engineered custom localized Xplore TV smart TV apps will subsequently be deployed in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia and Macedonia.

The apps are powered by 3SS’ award-winning 3READY Product Framework and include today’s most popular features including Live TV, catchup, TV Guide, mini EPG, timeshift, live startover and cross-device continue-watching, all within an intuitive, easy-to-use UI. 3SS and A1 Telekom Austria Group are working closely on this major project, co-defining and co-creating the apps to deliver superior UX quality to maximize subscriber engagement.

3SS delivered the project to A1 Bulgaria extremely rapidly, with apps being available to subscribers less than six months after contract signature. 3SS is carrying out app development and delivery for all five territories using a single codebase. This innovative, inherently efficient software engineering methodology is enabling per-market customizations – including adaptations needed to accommodate several languages and both Cyrillic and Latin alphabets – with accelerated delivery timescales.

Also underpinning 3SS’ fast delivery is its employment of modern principles of agile development, including SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodologies.

SAFe makes project delivery a more iterative process than seen in traditional development, and involves frequent communication, cross-party planning and common risk management. With SAFe, all those involved in a project benefit from a clear understanding of their responsibilities and their inter-dependencies. The results are a highly motivated and productive team, faster time to market and better products.
