MStar and Corpus deliver cost-effective middleware integrated chipset solution to enhance customer experience and enable value-added services

TAIWAN/HYDERABAD, India — MStar Semiconductor, Inc., a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions, and Corpus Media Labs, a digital TV middleware and VAS (Value added services) platform company, have come up with an integrated solution comprising of MStar K family of SoCs and Corpus’s iPlatform middleware and VAS value delivery platform.

This integrated solution will allow the local set-top box manufacturer to design and manufacture the set-top boxes in quick time that can be seamlessly integrated into end to end value delivery platform for middleware and VAS services.

The highly cost efficient solution will give more power to set-top box and enhance customer experience while considerably reduce time-to-market for delivering new value added services. “New form advertisement”, “Interactive content”, “TV shopping”, “Video on demand”, “Catch up TV”, and “Multiscreen OTT (Over the top)” are some of the VAS possible with less memory footprint for hybrid, HD and SD set-top-boxes.

MStar SoC SDK (Software development kit) and drivers provide a rich set of APIs (Application Programming Interface) for enhanced TV experience. Corpus set-top box “iTV middleware client” comprised of rich UI framework, VAS SDK, optimized DVB engine and enhanced metadata search and recommendation engine is integrated with MStar SDK and Corpus iPlatform server and optimized for memory and performance.

“We’ve built an efficient co-working model with the Corpus team, which we believe it could provide more competitive and completed solution to our customers in India” says Dennis Lai, Sales VP of set-top box Business Unit at MStar Semiconductor Inc.

Priyabrata Das, Product Head, Corpus Media Labs says, “Indian digital TV operators are looking to differentiate, provide high quality customer experience and increase the revenue per subscriber and this exactly what we intend to achieve with the Integrated solution from Corpus’s iPlatform and MStar family of SoC’s. In addition, it would allow the Indian set-top box OEMs to reduce time-to-market, while delivering powerful and cost effective set-top box variants. We are confident that our partnership with MStar will go a long way in creating value to operators, OEMs and Television subscribers”.
