2.2 million active smartcards for Italy's TivùSat

ROME — Italian satellite TV platform TivùSat has announced that five years after its launch at the end of July 2009, it now has more than 2.2 million (2,201,708) active smart cards in 1.83 million households.
The regions with the highest penetration levels are Calabria, in which 15.6% of families have chosen TivùSat, Molise with 14.5% adoption, then Liguria (14.2%), Valle d’Aosta (13.7%), Basilicata (12.9%) and Sicily (10.9%). TivuSat is in 7% of Italian households over all.
The pay-as-you-go satellite platform, on Eutelsat at 13° East, offers 64 channels of TV, including some channels in high definition, plus 32 radio stations.
