HTTV teams up with Skyworth to deliver Parabole Réunion’s first HbbTV compliant Set Top Box, enabling the Indian Ocean DTH Pay TV operator to bring top of the line services to the local French speaking communities.
For the first time in the region, the viewers will be entitled to access the French national channels HbbTV applications, available currently only on France’s mainland. Relying on the implementation of “httvLink”, HTTV’s Hybrid TV operating system for connected TV receivers, the brand new platform is using the HbbTV 1.5 and HTML 5 standards as the main engines to deliver new interactive services.
Based on Broadcom BCM 7355, the box is designed and manufactured by Skyworth. It will carry 4 DVB-S2 tuners supporting a large set of advanced services such as PVR or pairing with a secondary STB. The IP connection will enable OTT video services to the main TV screen and to second screens as well. VIACCESS-Orca provides its Prime Sentinel (CA) Solution to secure content.
The initial phase of the deployment will enable the first users to discover the new STB services for the end of this year. More services are expected to be added in the future.
“HTTV is a leading provider of HbbTV solutions. Our company is proud to have been selected by Parabole Réunion. Not only the use of HbbTV 1.5 powered by our httvLink TV operating system offers new attractive services to Parabole’ subscribers, but it also demonstrates the value of HbbTV for PayTV operators. “Says Régis Saint Girons, HTTV’s CEO, adding: “This strategic partnership with Skyworth, a top STB manufacturer, will enable us to reinforce our pay-TV offer“.
“Parabole Reunion Group has been a key DTH pay TV provider over the East Indian Ocean Islands (Réunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte and Comoros) for the last 16 years, and is proud today to bring HbbTV 1.5 standard for its subscribers through this new strategic partnership with HTTV and Skyworth.
