Verimatrix Extends Collaboration With Bouygues Telecom for Enhanced Multi-Screen Revenue Security

  • VCAS for Broadcast-Hybrid Provides Robust Protection for Leading French Operator’s Android TV Box Deployment, Codenamed “Project Miami”

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands — IBC 2014 — Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced that it has extended its relationship with Bouygues Telecom, a French mobile phone, Internet service provider and IPTV company. A longtime Verimatrix customer, Bouygues Telecom has now added the Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) for Broadcast-Hybrid to its security arsenal. The solution was deployed to protect Bouygues Telecom’s next-generation, Android TV box client devices, which offer a new class of premium home video service.

VCAS for Broadcast-Hybrid is a cardless revenue security solution that draws on the strengths of the global number one VCAS for IPTV, and the highly successful VCAS for Internet TV, to better enable combinations of secure multicast linear video with advanced adaptive bitrate streaming on-demand and catch-up services. It also ensures harmonized rights management for subscribers at home and on the go. The solution is well-suited for Bouygues Telecom’s IPTV service, which is delivered to set-top boxes (STBs), tablets, iPads and portable displays, enabling subscribers to seamlessly consume broadcast video, video on demand (VoD) and DVR content on additional screens anywhere in the home.

“Verimatrix is a reliable partner for Bouygues Telecom, and we trust them to provide us with robust, cost-effective revenue security solutions to support the full range of our multi-screen initiatives,” said Pierre Schaller, SVP Innovation and Strategic Alignment at Bouygues Telecom. “We consistently choose to collaborate with them because of their ongoing commitment to innovation, as well as their flexibility and ability to easily scale when we add new services.”

“Project Miami” is based on the Android OS and will deliver the best of premium IPTV and Android applications on TV. Ericsson served as the systems integrator for the project, with trusted Verimatrix ecosystem partners IfeelSmart, iWedia, and Marvell also playing critical roles.

“We are delighted to again collaborate with our valued customer Bouygues Telecom,” said Steve Oetegenn, president, Verimatrix. “VCAS for Broadcast-Hybrid offers Bouygues Telecom a compelling software-centric video service security solution that will enable them to better respond to new standards, new opportunities and the rapidly changing market dynamics.”

Verimatrix will illustrate the key role of multi-network revenue security at IBC 2014, 12-16 Sept 2014 at the RAI Amsterdam (booth #4.A55). During the exposition, the company will showcase its approach to IP-centric video services for progressive pay-TV operators.
