Argentina's ARSAT-1 satellite to launch on October 16th

The President of ARSAT, Matías Bianchi, has announced that Argentina’s first geostationary satellite, ARSAT-1, will be launched on October 16, 2014. The satellite is to be launched by Arianespace from its Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana.
The satellite will be in positioned at 71.8° West where it will provide telecommunications services to Argentina and neighboring countries (Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay). Arsat-1 is fitted with twelve 36MHz, eight 54MHz and four 72MHz transponders, all in the Ku band, enabling it to offer telecommunications, data transmission, telephone and television services.
