SPB TV welcomes new OTT TV service launch for migrant community from Lebara
LONDON — SPB TV AG, a leading global provider of end-to-end OTT TV, IPTV and mobile TV solutions, welcomes the launch of Lebara Play™, a new entertainment service for migrants, announced by Lebara®, the universal brand for the world’s migrant community.
Lebara Play is based on SPB TV’s turnkey OTT TV solution, which was customised to Lebara’s technical and business requirements. Lebara Play provides users with an opportunity to watch TV and video content on all devices: smartphone, tablet, computer, or via your television set using a set-top box. The service allows users to watch content as it is broadcast, with access to video on demand (3,000 movies and 150 channels in 13 languages, where all content is 100% legal, and is in HD and SD quality).
The main target audiences are migrant communities, as the service provides content from their home countries. During the launch phase, Tamil, Turkish, West African English and West African French content is available for customers in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France, though it is accessible online and via mobile app globally. As the project rolls out, more languages and regions will be included.
“We used innovative advanced technology solutions for Lebara Play”, said Kirill Filippov, CEO of SPB TV. “With time-shifting and place-shifting, users can catch up with a show or a movie later or watch it from the start. They can start watching a movie on a smartphone and continue on a TV screen, and watch a TV show as it is simultaneously broadcast,” he highlighted.
“Our media platform provides an incredibly fast launch, transcoding and streaming anywhere in the world”, said SPB TV’s Co-Founder Sebastian-Justus Schmidt. “SPB TV is proud to be a partner of Lebara and contribute to its vision to be the brand of choice for one billion people by 2020”.
“SPB TV understand our aims for Lebara Play and have been excellent partners leading up to launch. We’re looking forward to continuing our collaboration and adding new features and functionality to deliver an even better customer experience, as we expand the service and release more content,” added Mr Yoganathan Ratheesan, Chairman & CEO of Lebara Group.
