Sixty Delivers Premium Experience Design and Development for Next Generation Altibox Set-Top-Box

STAVANGER and BERGEN, Norway — Altibox and Sixty today announced that Sixty has been working on a design and development project to support the May 2017 launch of the next generation Altibox set-top solutions. The project is designed to enable Altibox to leverage rich metadata and deliver an enhanced user experience to its customers across a wide range of platforms, including set-top-boxes (STB), iOS, Android and web.

The project has seen Sixty provide: design, front-end development, product development strategy advice, UX services and integration work with the Huawei cloud-based TV infrastructure deployed by Altibox. For this project Sixty used its Ease Framework UX development solution. This component-based JavaScript framework enabled Sixty to quickly design and build a new premium set-top box UX for Altibox. Ease Framework maximizes reusability to significantly accelerate the set-top box application development process.

“We’ve worked with Altibox for almost a decade, during which time we have played a key role in the design and UX of its TV and multimedia consumer experiences,” says Kjetil Horneland, CEO, Sixty.

“We understand that the user experience plays a fundamental role in the way companies engage with viewers, and this had a huge influence in the way we developed Altibox’s services and UX for the next generation of its STBs. We look forward to driving the next wave of Altibox innovation and enabling new offerings that will delight and entertain its viewers,” concluded Horneland.

“One of our missions as a company is to ensure every individual viewer can become the supreme commander of their remote and to enable that, it’s imperative we deliver an optimised, unified user experience across all major devices and platforms,” says Thomas Skjelbred, CEO, Altibox.

“The challenge to Sixty was to design, develop and deploy a UX that could provide content centric, discoverable, personalized navigation across all services and seamlessly integrate on-demand and live content. We are delighted with the next generation UX and TV app development that Sixty has delivered to us and look forward to the roll-out of our next generation set-top boxes starting in May 2017,” concluded Skjelbred.

Altibox and Sixty will be attending TV Connect at London’s ExCel (28-30 March 2017) and will be available at the Huawei stand (53).
