500,000 customers for Romania's Dolce digital TV service

The digital television service Dolce reached half a million clients, in only 16 months since its launch on the market. With one of the highest growth rates in Europe in 2007, Dolce reached a penetration rate on the satellite television market of over 33%, 13% more as compared to the year-end 2007.

On the entire television market in Romania the digital television service offered by Romtelecom reached at this moment a penetration rate of 10%. Dolce is currently watched on approximately 700,000 TV sets by over 1.5 million Romanians.

“With a subscribers average of approximately 30,000 clients per month, Dolce proved to be the choice of most of the Romanians for quality television services, for both provided content and technical reliability. Dolce is now part of everyday’s life of our clients and, according to our periodic researches, they are very satisfied by our service. We will keep striving to remain in the top of the preferences of our clients in Romania and to have a growth rate on the market as high as until now”, declared Yorgos Ioannidis, CEO Romtelecom.

At this moment, Romtelecom clients who sign Dolce contracts for a period of 2 years, pay a monthly subscription of only 3.9 Euro, VAT excluded, and don not pay any fee for the first month of the subscription.

The client number 500,000, Nistor Gherghina, from Sivita – Galati, receives from Romtelecom a free subscription including the Variety and Dream packages, which include 72 programs, in order to enjoy a full digital TV experience.

Dolce television is part of the portfolio of new services developed during last years by Romtelecom, along with data and broadband Internet services, which also register the highest growth rates on the Romanian market.
