Italy publishes roadmap for transition to DVB-T2/MPEG-4

ROME — Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development (Ministero dello sviluppo economico) has published a roadmap for the country’s transition to DVB-T2 / MPEG-4 digital terrestrial television (DTT) broadcasting.
The ‘TV 4.0’ roadmap, which divides Italy into four geographical areas, provides for the introduction of MPEG-4 coding in the last quarter of 2021 and for the rollout of DVB-T2 nationally between June 21, 2022 and June 30, 2022.
