Microtune Announces Second Quarter 2008 Financial Results

PLANO, Texas — Microtune®, Inc. (NASDAQ: TUNE) today reported preliminary unaudited financial results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2008.

Net revenue for the three months ended June 30, 2008 was $26.6 million, a 7% increase compared to net revenue of $24.8 million for the second quarter of 2007, and a 5% increase compared to net revenue of $25.5 million for the first quarter of 2008. Net revenue for the six months ended June 30, 2008 was $52.1 million, an increase of 17% compared to the six months ended June 30, 2007.

Business Highlights

— Microtune shipped its 100-millionth silicon TV tuner on June 30, 2008, shipping cumulatively by the end of second quarter approximately one hundred million, sixty four thousand tuner chips. Previously, on February 6, 2007, Microtune announced that it had surpassed the shipment of fifty-million MicroTuner chips, in effect, doubling cumulative product shipments in approximately 16 months.

— Microtune stated that ultra-fast DOCSIS® 3.0 cable modems, featuring its MicroTuner™ MT2170 tuner chip, had achieved certification status by CableLabs® for the DOCSIS 3.0 specifications. In its booths this spring at The Cable Show and the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo® 2008, Microtune displayed the certified cable modems of multiple manufacturers.

— Microtune introduced a new 1-GHz tuner, expanding its portfolio of products for the worldwide cable market. The new MicroTuner™ MT2068, using less than 900 mWatts of power, is a multi-standard tuner that supports lower-power consumption consumer equipment in next-generation all-digital networks.
