Wiztivi develops Fransat’s new HbbTV app
PARIS, France — From design to maintenance, with front-end, backend and back office, Wiztivi developed for Fransat an end-to-end solution for its new HbbTV app. Thanks to the latest version of Wiztivi Framework, the app is compliant with most TV set models from 2016 to 2022.
Fransat, the French DTH platform operated by Eutelsat, and Wiztivi are unveiling the brand-new application of “Fransat Connect”, an interactive service based on the HbbTV standards. The main objectives were to modernise the UI in a more intuitive UX, ensure compatibility with the latest HbbTV features, manage user consent and display free or paid TV program suggestions based on the user’s profile.
The application was designed by Wiztivi’s internal Studio to create a user experience fully in line with the operator’s brand universe. Thanks to the completely redesigned user interface, the end user can access a program guide from -1 day to +7 days, catch-up television over the same period or video on demand. Listening to web radio is made easier with seamless integration into the UX.
The back-end was developed for the specific needs of Fransat. Thanks to its flexibility, the operator can extensively configure its content offer as well as its marketing campaigns. Users are segmented according to their device and the offers to which they have – or have not – subscribed. Very fine targeting is then possible, allowing for example the promotion of a channel package only to non-subscribers, or the promotion of 4k content only to those whose device is compatible.
The Wiztivi Framework, the heart of success for multi-device apps
The new Fransat Connect TV application is compatible with more than 3 000 different models of Smart TVs, from 2016 to 2022. This is possible thanks to the performance of the latest version of the Wiztivi Framework, Wiztivi’s in-house collaborative development tool. With a single code, this Framework allows users to create an interface compatible with any device and any back-end. The performances of each device are optimised, guaranteeing a unified user experience, easy to maintain in the long term.
Jean-Luc Deroudilhe, CEO of Fransat said: “We are pleased to provide our customers with a new easy-to-use TV application thanks to the expertise of Wiztivi, which combines, through a truly intuitive user interface, hybrid reception of linear satellite channels in combination with interactive content, transmitted to the TV via a broadband connection.”
“We are happy to have supported Fransat throughout their entire project. The different services involved at Wiztivi worked together wonderfully to develop this innovative end-to-end solution. For Wiztivi, it is also an opportunity to demonstrate the power of the latest version of our Framework. This amazing tool saves time for multi-device deployments and increases efficiency, which are cutting edge benefits for our customers.”, added Thibault Demartial, VP Sales and Marketing at Wiztivi.
